If design is something, it is as a political expression of reality, as the essence of the moment, as the soul of time. The actions we propose for the space of the Encarnacion Square results from the crossing of the horizontal solid planes that should welcome the intended uses, with the vertical channels of light with which we express the drama of time, which is the ephemeral materiality of culture.
Our proposal sees the square as a pedestrian semi elevated platform to be used for convivial public relations. Below hosting two underground levels: the foreground the market under its traditional location, and three private car parks and almost all structures excavated and a archaeological and historical interpretation area. Over three buildings: the northeast on the site of temporary market for a sports facility; on the northern side a facility of cultural, commercial and social use which is linked to the expected immediate ephemeral uses, on the platform, the market and the archaeological area under it; the third building, remodeled the old administrative use, hosting a dense cultural and social activity: a museum-multimedia library and social-care center. The platform is conceived criss- crossed by light tubes that penetrate into the archeological remains (of courtyards of Roman and Almohad houses), with natural light illuminating the underground levels and serving as lighting system in the square at night.
The rest of the square is proposed to be planted in a sober and comfortable way, three gardens serve as urban vestibules of the proposed uses.
The square is to become a pedestrian precinct with restricted access of residents.
