BURGOS RECEIVES EUROPEAN URBAN ROTTHIER 2008 FOR THE BEST QUALITY OF URBAN EXPANSION.
Burgos City Council collects Philippe Rotthier 2008 European Award for Best Quality Urban Expansion in the last 25 years for the development of Villimar West S4 Sector Plan. It is an award that was presented to a total of 230 nominations from 30 countries, representing "the international character of such a prestigious award like this." The award, created in 1982 by the Belgian architect Philippe Rotthier recognizes every three years architectural and urban interventions that better reflect the principles on which the "most beautiful" European cities were founded and is intended to foster the excellence in the design and construction of the cornerstone of the traditional city. Thus the Burgos area, as recalled Mayor Lacalle, is one of the most spacious of the old General Plan (includes the construction of 3,500 homes of which 30 percent have some kind of protection) becomes one of the best new urban neighborhoods of Europe to consider which is designed according to the principles of sustainable development as set out in the Green Paper of the European Union Environment of cities, regardless of location or country.Congratulations on the great distinction!.
