Background: Protection Plan of the Albayzin
The wording and drafting of this protection plan ought to be seen within a dynamic fueled by a pre- and post master plans with little attention and interest in heritage, so that the imprint of these plans is very identifiable in this town of relevant history.The Protection Plan was implemented to invert a process of general decay (which has a distant origin in the impact of the Peninsula War), catalog, restore, incorporating the landscape and the relationship with the banks of the Tagus river.
The seed was sown with the Plan but it was necessary a mobilization of consciences to retrace what went wrong and reconfigure the area from a perspective that the Protection Plan describes in detail.
Instituted a Commission of Control, conceived its task, started its route, the Plan continues today its management and its avatars.
