Rescue a testimony to the history of Spain
Background: Master Planning and Protection Plan of Burgos
Vivar del Cid, in the municipality of Quintanilla.Vivar, as district administrative structure, commissioned us for avoiding an undesirable transformation of the core of the ancient settlement of the historic figure of El Cid, and to rescue what was still of identifiable value of this forgotten place. Our project identified the layout of the transit of El Cid in its milestones to S Pedro de Cardena Burgos and from there to the south, but mostly ordered the core to ensure an image consistent to the historic and natural landscape. One aspect of interest was the research archives and archaeological sources including what the Vatican archives still holds on El Cid. The plan unveiled the outlay of the original mills that were so present in the life of Rodrigo Diaz de Vivar between Sotopalacios and the hamlet of Vivar.
