"Sea town" PROJECT
Bay of Cadiz, Cadiz

Gate of a continent

Background: Community debate
The Town of the Sea plan has been a subject of debate in Cadiz for decades and still goes on and it always seems about to materialize. This urban action was a grand area plan at the tip of the enclave of San Felipe with which the city greets the boats approaching to Europe from any continent, but especially from America. That sea gate was yet another gate of Cadiz in addition to that described in another operation also long overdue at the Puerta de Sevilla.
Our collaboration and urban design advice was meant to give the required support in the definition of the urban operation Ciudad del Mar to a team of economists to whom the city of Cadiz requested a set of scenarios to assess the various options with the corresponding cost benefit analysis: the proposal included leisure activities, reorganization of the pier, a large parking, functional integration into the urban fabric. Even today there is debate about those actions.
