Cáceres
The ducal and episcopal city
Background: Plan of Monumental Caceres
City hosts the Cathedral of Coria who shares the bishopric of Coria Caceres. Ducal city of the House of Alba, retains their palace adapted by Lilliana Ferlosio, whose son the writer Rafael Sanchez Ferlosio still has a house in the block.
The assets of this historic place include the Episcopal Palace, Jewish quarter, Castle, Ducal Palace, city walls, cathedral an important village, well preserved, traditions, cultural attractions: the famous nightly bull “encierro”, or the festival of the Virgin of Argeme in the fields around her hermitage.
The Plan for the Protection of Historic Coria at work today for nearly three decades has shown its effectiveness, attended by a monitoring committee whose foundation and commissioning activity we attended for a few years with repeated trips to Coria to ensure proper adjustment to the Plan management determinations.
