TOWN PARK of ZAPARDIEL RIVER
Medina del Campo Valladolid
An urban regeneration project
Background: Historical Center PlanThe Real Meat Market, the Convent of Discalced Franciscans, called Versailles Park, the Church of San Miguel, the the Castle Hill at the background and a very altered historic town centre requiring a boost of environmental quality, all crossed by a stream, dry much of the year and where it would stop all the leftovers. An opportunity to recreate a landscape of riparian gallery, like that characteristic of rural sections of Zapardiel River. That was the project to clean the river bed, naturalize without affecting its hydraulic hydrological conditions deduced from the corresponding study with legal horizons, protection against floods, but primarily an urban regeneration project supported by the quality of the natural physical environment.
The project, developed in great detail, incorporated a design established as part of articulation of the systems of green spaces of the city center and from them to the rural natural environment.
The project was based on bioclimatic urban planning, collective leisure, landscape quality and configuration references, and it is now awaiting execution.
