Collecting traces of an exceptional garden history
Background: Marquesa de Casa Valdes "Gardens of Spain"
This project was designed together with the Marquesa de Casa Valdés commissioned by the National Trust, for the recovery of the historic plantation and the axis of rotation in the parterre access to the Palace, regeneration of the herbs garden and restoration of misplaced items.It was based on an intense archaeological and historical study of sources, especially from the Archives of the Royal Palace of Madrid and the National Castle of Simancas in Valladolid.
Although its performance was interrupted after the death of Teresa Casa Valdes, it was used as a reference guide during the stage of the Marquis of Mondejar as director of the National Trust
The study of historical interventions in this garden triggered the discovery of interesting fundamentals of historical gardens of Spain: Solutions of the type of the so called galleon rides, links with the baroque gardens of the palaces of Aranjuez and El Retiro in Madrid and with the garden of poet Soto de Rojas in Granada, among others
