Urban rehabilitation was a rather exotic concept at the end of the 70's, not only in Spain but globally. This work stands out as the first to not only boost the concept of rehabilitation of internal areas, but exemplify a multidisciplinary performance alternative approach to urban development of suburbs based on new building
The district of Dos de Mayo in the center Madrid is the subject of a comprehensive rehabilitation proposal that comes as an initiative of the Institute of Architects of Madrid, developed by a team under our direction, in response to the then latent threat of its demise to make way for a to traffic thoroughfare, yet another case of sventramento budding.
The Pilot Study based on a deep typological study, first raised in our cultural situation, the application for the rehabilitation of financial, regulatory and management systems, proportionate to those that were then being promoted as actions of public housing, and does so expressly addressing the regeneration of the urban fabric
